The Transportation Committee addresses transportation issues in the Hamline Midway neighborhood. The committee disseminates information to and gathers feedback from the community on transportation issues; tracks, discusses, and debates transportation-related issues; and provides information and recommendations for action to the HMC Board of Directors. The purpose of the Community Building Committee is to: 1) Coordinate the annual Hamline Midway Spring Festival; 2) Organize an annual block club coordinator workshop; 3) Monitor neighborhood crime/safety/livability issues and serve as a liaison between HMC and the St. Paul Police Department; and 4) Develop and implement events, projects, and programs that will strengthen community relations, improve neighborhood livability, prevent crime, and increase safety. Hamline Midway Development Committee (formerly the Land Use Committee) The Community Development Committee: 1) Develops initiatives to build the local economy and improve infrastructure, amenities, and services in the Hamline Midway neighborhood; 2) Promotes the Hamline Midway neighborhood and community development/local economy initiatives to potential developers, the City of Saint Paul, local agencies, and all other interested parties; 3) Represents Hamline Midway community development/local economy interests to the City of Saint Paul’s departments and agencies as needed; 4) Works with HMC staff to review land use applications – for licenses, variances, conditional use permits, re-zonings, etc. – and makes recommendations for action regarding such requests to the HMC Board of Directors or directly to the appropriate City body, as appropriate. Local Foods Working Group The purpose of the Local Foods Working Group is: 1) to explore options for creating a stronger local food system in Hamline Midway and the surrounding area; 2) to develop and implement a Local Food Action Plan with direction from the HMC Board of Directors; 3) when appropriate, make recommendations for action on local food issues to the HMC Board of Directors.
